Who We Are

Several years ago, a group of adult scouter's sat down together for a cup of coffee during Swamp Fox.  It was not long before the conversation got around to what they all enjoyed, shooting.  Sometime during that conversation the topic came up as to some of the things that they thought could be improved upon to enhance their scouts experience.  Well, that conversation turned into a common vision, which in turn, led to the creation of a shooting sports committee.  At the same time the National Council had started to issue directives and initiatives to standardize and revamp the shooting sports as a whole.

The vision, was to establish a shooting sports program at Camp Long Lake, that would make it a premier shooting sports destination in the Midwest.  That meant that every aspect needed to be looked at.  From facilities, to equipment, and to training.  This is obviously not an overnight transition.  However,  a Standard Operating Procedures document has been put into effect, some of the older pieces of equipment has been upgraded and we will continue to do so.  A training program has been developed and put into place with the first of the training starting in October of 2009.
